Assignment…fruit salad.
Event…Sunday Brunch celebrating newly weds…the son and daughter in law of neighborhood friends.
Attending…adults and children.
I have posted the fall salad I made for this festive celebration. Now it is important to share what I created for the kids…A FRUIT TURKEY!
I found the idea on Pinterest. Believe me I have had plenty of Pinterest Fails…but this one was a success. So successful in fact that NO ONE ate it!
I think it is obvious what fruits were used…a pear for the body and halfed grapes, apple and pear cubes, and bananas for the feathers. I cut strips of orange peel for the beak, arms and feet. I used part of the grape stem for the eyes. To add dimension there were chocolate covered raisins in between the bananas. Such fun! The only drawback…everyone thought it was too cute to eat.
This will be such a fun addition to the Thanksgiving table, especially if you have kids. There are so many ways to be creative as well. I used what I had on hand, but I have some great ideas for the next time. In fact it would make an adorable fruit and cheese tray as well. Sooooo… Gobble, Gobble!
Please feel free to share your creations! We would love to see them.
