Greek Turkey Burgers
Greek Turkey Burgers have become a family favorite at our house, but they were a long time coming.
I have made the recipe for Greek Style Turkey Burgers from Food.com several times. Greek style turkey burgers The recipe was posted by my sister on Three Forks in the Road some time back. At the time I briefly read her post, but I was not inclined to try either of the burger recipes. Why? I am not a ground turkey fan. In fact I avoid anything using ground chicken or turkey. I simply do not like the taste….or so I thought.
Then came Sriracha meatballs. Ground turkey and spinach. We loved them as did my family. The Greek burgers were all of a sudden more enticing. I have continually refined this recipe ever since we first tried it. We love Greek food and the layers of flavor.
Each time I make the burgers I decide it still needs tweaking. Finally this week the burgers were perfect. At least for us. By using “Greek” oregano, and adding the dill and lemon I was able to achieve just the right Greek flavor that we have come to know and love. So now you have it…our version of Greek Turkey Burgers.
We have served them a variety of ways…buns, pita, and English muffins. The lightly toasted English muffins have proven to be our favorite. Add condiments that you enjoy. The ‘Ole Buckeye likes Tzatziki, and I like a slice of sweet onion and Tzatziki.
These burgers are packed with flavor. They are also quite filling. One burger goes a long way.
SaveSave
- 1 Pound ground turkey
- 1 Cup Greek feta crumbled
- 1/2 Cup Kalamata Olives Chopped
- 1 Tsp Greek Oregano
- 1 Tsp Italian Seasoning
- 1 Tsp dried parsley
- 1 Tsp dried basil
- 1 Tsp onion powder
- 1/2 Tsp garlic powder
- 2 Tbsp Chopped Fresh Dill Generous
- 1/2 Lemon Juiced
- Prepare the ingredients by chopping the olives and crumbling the feta. In a large bowl combine all of the ingredients as well as the juice of 1/2 of a lemon. Mix well with your hands.
- Divide the meat mixture into quarters and form 4 burgers.
- I normally use an indoor grill pan to cook these because the 'Ole Buckeye has been reluctant to grill them himself. I normally spray the surface of the pan lightly to avoid sticking. Grill until done.
It is not imperative that these burgers are served in a sandwich form. They are delicious as a simple entree'. If serving as a sandwich, I find pita pockets or lightly toasted English muffins are best and you can add condiments to your personal taste.
