What is it with Cats and Computers?

As you can tell from my last few posts, I spend a LOT of time on the computer! Some day I will discuss why I choose to spend a chunk of my time this way, but today I want to talk about the other household resident who spends a similar amount of time on the computer. Literally, ON THE COMPUTER.

Meet Allie, my text editor. A multi-faceted professional, she can easily and rapidly add text by placing her posterior on the keyboard. Items can be selected on the Touchscreen with her tail. She can interfere with the effective use of the mouse with a body block, nip or paw. Best of all, she can shut down operations altogether with a well placed combination of the above moves. Who knew a feline could figure out Control Alt Delete before me?

An example of preparing for keyboard use….daring me to try to interrupt her. Petting is acceptable, pushing aside…not so much.
The ultimate goal, claiming the entire work surface. The keyboard is now perched off to the side, the mouse nowhere to be seen, the monitor available only by peering over the queenly pose.
The demand for payment for services. Pay up and pet me or else you will never reclaim use of this computer again!

And then, when the editing and selections are finished, adequate payment has been made, it is time to rest from the hard work. A good nap behind the computer, basking in the warmth of the cooling fan and the desk lamp. Perfect!

Sigh. Quick, try to get something done!
