Hits and Misses

This was certainly a strange way to make oatmeal, but it was convenient to have it hot a ready in the morning. It also reheated well. The ‘Ole Buckeye gave it a thumbs up.

As our daughter in law packed up to take the final load to Tennessee I promised dinner. In a discussion weeks ago I realized that everyone in the family had enjoyed Rachael’s recipe for Sausages and Grapes except her. I fixed it for our “last supper.” I think this time it was one of the best I have made. It was perfection!

Anniversary Weekend

We celebrated our anniversary over the course of three days enjoying several restaurants in Richmond and Williamsburg that we love.

Our Spanish lunch took us to La Tienda where we had a great salad, eggplant and Spanish potatoes.

La Tienda

We love Flemings and have had many wonderful celebratory meals there. The closest one to us currently is in Richmond, so we spent a night there and then traveled to Williamsburg. On our anniversary eve the ‘Ole Buckeye enjoyed a salad and the filet/crab stuffed lobster and I had calamari, one of my favorites. I couldn’t waste a chance to enjoy it again so it was my entree. Notice the rose petals on the table and the sparkler with dessert.

Flemings

We decided to take a scenic drive from Richmond which allowed us to pass several plantations. It was a beautiful drive on a beautiful day and along the way we discovered the Upper Shirley Vineyards just outside of the Shirley Plantation. We were just in time for lunch…lucky me. What a delightful lunch.

We love Greek food and our favorite Greek restaurant in the entire area is Kephi. The food, service and pricing is great. What better place to have our anniversary dinner. We enjoyed sharing a special watermelon salad and the ‘Ole Buckeye had the swordfish special and I had salmon. We topped the evening off with coconut cake and a bottle of Asti when we returned to the hotel. Cheers to 57!

Recap

I will admit that we splurged on our meals but we had a great week of eating and celebrating! We abandoned our normal way of eating…truly abandoned. Note to self…do not have routine physical and blood work within days of a celebration weekend. Regardless…we are back to normal in the week ahead. The adventure continues. Bon Appetit!
