The menu plan for 2023 week 15 is complete. We will be continuing our vacation…finishing in Hilton Head at Marriott’s Barony Beach and moving to Myrtle Beach for the final few days.
Breakfast
We have guests with us for our final days in Hilton Head and I will plan the egg casserole which should feed us for 2 mornings along with toast and fruit.
Lunch
My standby lunch offerings for guests in the timeshare is salads. They are healthy and enjoyed by all. The 2 that I have planned also work well for eat again offerings.
Dinner
It’s dinner out for the most part during the rest of the trip.
Hits and Misses
Lunch
There were no new recipes while traveling, but I will highlight a few as well as the great restaurants in Hilton Head.
It s difficult to find vegan restaurants on the road. I had originally planned to make sandwiches as we traveled to Hilton Head, but the drive and the way I packed made it too difficult. We had lunch on the way at Olive Garden…Soup and Sandwich lunch which although not perfect was quick. Normally I research local dining and avoid the restaurant chains, but we missed our exit and made due. My mom would have been proud…she loved salad and Pasta Fagioli Soup.
What a great sandwich this makes and a big plus…I made it ahead and took it with us. A slice of tomato on toasted ezekiel bread…perfect.
I packed hummus ahead to enjoy at lunch and happy hour. This oil free version is a favorite.
Thanks to a tip, we had a salad and veggie pizza for lunch at Mangiamo. The tip…this Hilton Head restaurant was totally OSU Buckeye themed. So fun, and great pizza as well.
Easter Brunch was reserved outdoors at The Links. The weather did not cooperate but thanks to the incredible staff at The Links we were able to move our reservation inside. We both enjoyed Bellinis and a delicious avocado toast and outstanding Southern grits. This lovely spot was on the 18th hole of this prestigious golf course which hosts a huge PGA tournament later in the week. It was interesting to see the set up taking place for the event.
Dinner
Our first night in Hilton Head was warm and beautiful. We enjoyed dinner outdoors at the Black Marlin. I had a blackened salmon on a taco salad and the ‘Ole Buckeye enjoyed shrimp and grits.
I picked the Studio because of their wide vegan/vegetarian offerings as well as excellent reviews. It is more intimate and quiet than most restaurants with excellent service both of which were appreciated. I enjoyed halibut and the ‘Ole Buckeye had the wild salmon. Both meals were delicious complemented by expertly prepared vegetables.
Recap
The weather during the beginning of our trip left a lot to be desired…cold, windy, and rainy but we made the best of it. The food has been great and we are looking forward to warm sunshine in the days ahead! Bon Appetit!
