2020 Week 6 Menu Plan
The 2020 Week 6 Menu Plan is going to look quite familiar. Why? It is almost identical to week 5. I have often said that one of the biggest things I have learned during retirement, is to be flexible. Last week was proof of just that.
Our 15 year old grand daughter was playing in a soccer tournament in Richmond on Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday. The ‘Ole Buckeye and I planned an overnight to watch her play. Out the window went the menu plan for the weekend. We were also invited to a Super Bowl “Chili Cookoff” at our son’s. Due to the change of plans, the weekend menu plan has been transferred to week 6. All of the new recipes planned for week 5/6 are from the original Trim Healthy Mama cookbook and the page numbers are included in the Week 5 blog post.
Breakfast
The breakfasts planned for 2020 week 6 contain the leftovers from week 5 as well as the Tuscan Bake which was never prepared. This is one recipe that looks to be rather adventurous and I am hoping that it will also reheat well.
Lunch
The lunch plan for 2020 week 6 is basically the soups planed during week 5 with the addition of the Chicken JalapeƱo Popper Soup on page 90 Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook.
Dinner
The menu for dinner is a continuation of week 5 with the addition of the Balsamic Chicken, page 56 Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook on Tuesday.
Recap
As a reminder all of the new recipes used during week 5 were taken from the original Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook. The week began with a breakfast egg casserole that was labeled as a quiche. It was more egg casserole than quiche, but delicious. The best part…it is a Fuel Pull, which opens a lot of possibilities for breakfast or lunch and between meal snacks.
The taco salad was actually on the lunch menu last week, but I ended up making it to accompany our left over sloppy joe casserole. No chips were added for crunch, since we didn’t need them. I also did not make an entire salad. I made a dinner salad for three and reserved the rest of the turkey and corn/beans to use later this week. This was a great salad and I will use this dressing often. It was a really simple Italian dressing for a variety of salads.
There was a lot of planning for last week’s meals. Luckily all of the ingredients remain on hand and ready to use going forward. That makes the grocery shopping so easy! Bon Appetit!
