Hits and Misses Week #22
I was not going to post a Hit/Miss Blog on week #22 since I already went into great detail about the 5th of July Dinner Party. To be perfectly honest, the remainder of the week contained no new recipes to review.
However
I decided to try the Greek turkey burgers that Jan posted previously.
First let me say, I prefer ground chicken to ground turkey. Second, let me say, I prefer ground beef over either of the above. But, I have come to realize that my sister does not include a proven recipe unless she is truly a fan.
I have a recipe for Greek meatloaf and for Greek meatballs which we truly enjoy. In fact Greek meatloaf is a favorite of the ‘Ole Buckeye. With that in mind, I decided to give the Greek burgers a try.
HIT!
We tried the Greek turkey burgers this past week. We made 4 large burgers and enjoyed them for 2 different meals. Cook once, Eat twice.
I tweaked the recipe slightly by adding a good measure of fresh chopped dill and the juice and zest of a half of a very juicy lemon. The ‘Ole Buckeye topped his with tzatziki and I topped mine with a generous slice of sweet onion. We tried the burger on pretzel rolls the first time (because they needed to be used) and a toasted English muffin the second time. The English muffin was by far the way to go. I made a huge fresh Greek Salad (Horiatriki), and I was transported to a Greek taverna. The only thing lacking was the Greek wine!
I am not a fan of ground turkey, but these burgers were exceptionally good and I will add them to our meal rotation. Thanks Jan!
