Staging Closets

My house was fully staged and on the market for three weeks.  It had 12 viewings.  On the 22nd day, we had two offers slightly above asking price.  The staging of the house was definitely a factor in getting those offers so I will continue to add a few posts on how we did it (while keeping my fingers crossed that closing goes smoothly)….

While we worked to make each room uncluttered and inviting, I worked to make each closet uncluttered and spacious looking.  “No lack of storage in this house!” they were to proclaim.

Now, I am embarrassed to show you some of these before pictures but face it, you have closets like these in your house too!  It is just so easy when tidying to toss items without a home behind the closed closet doors.

I dug in and sorted items in each closet into things to trash, things to donate, things to pack away and things to continue to display in that closet.  Here are the results:

THE MASTER BEDROOM

Let's begin with the worst case example. My closet (blush with embarrassment...)

It is the ultimate case of when something needs to have a hidey hole it gets shoved in my closet.

But after some careful paring down…

Shelves neat. All clothing hung on similar hangars arranged by color and sleeve length... with breathing space.

Much better. No lack of closet space!

One lesson I learned is that you can never have too many baskets when staging a house. Just sayin'.

The pantry.

Attractive canisters instead of boxes and bags.

All clutter removed (you know there was clutter hidden behind the laundry room door before!) and doesn't everyone have a picture hung behind the laundry room door?

The moral of the story is neat and tidy everywhere! Any door opened by a potential buyer only shows another view of the peaceful, organized life they can live in this home.

Maybe it will sink into my psyche too….
