The menu plan for week #36 is quite different from those in the past. In the past I have spent considerable time evaluating recipes and reviewing grocery specials. Week #36 reflects none of my past processes. This menu came about when I realized that the coupon I had for Blue Apron would expire the end of February and if I didn’t use it I would loose it. I know several friends who are using or have used Blue Apron and have been happy with the food and the experience.
The cost of Blue Apron is $59.94 per week and my coupon provided a savings of $30 for the introductory week. The cost per person for the 3 meals provided would be $5. I decided it would be worth a try, especially since you can skip weeks or cancel at any time. The 3 Blue Apron meals, a Saturday dinner invitation from my daughter and 2 remaining cook once/eat twice meals made planning week #36 effortless and a grocery list non existent. In fact I don’t even need to make a grocery run this week.
Week #36 will be a new adventure for us. We have never used any type of meal service before. The first time I was exposed to this new trend was at my daughter’s last fall. She was using Green Chef and we prepared two meals that complimented each other (since there were 4 of us) to have one night when we were visiting.
She not only used the meals for convenience but was impressed with the high quality of all of the ingredients. Each meal has full directions for preparation and all of the ingredients are included, and ready to use.
As I anticipate week #36 I think there is an adventure ahead. My next review will not only include the food we are eating but also Blue Apron as a food service. Here’e to another week of good eating and experimenting with new trends!
