There are only a few things in life that all of us have in common. One of those things is having a father. I was fortunate to have been blessed with the best.
He has been gone for years now, but in some way he touches me every single day. Sometimes it is a fleeting thought, sometimes a memory, sometimes he actually reaches out in correction or advise, hard to explain, but it happens. Regardless I would not be who I am, I would not have selected the man that I married, and I would not have raised my son to be the father that he is, without my dad.

A dad is someone who
wants to catch you before you fall
but instead picks you up,
brushes you off,
and lets you try again.

wants to keep you from making mistakes
but instead lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in silence
when you get hurt.

holds you when you cry,
scolds you when you break the rules,
