Menu Plan Week 57
Just so you know, “Whoa Nelly” did not work…not for a minute. It is time to formulate the menu plan for week 57 and it seems once again like I just completed the last plan. I normally make my menu plans and grocery lists on Tuesday and attempt to write a blog. Seldom do I get it all completed.
Last week’s plan once again took a very different path. Breakfasts have become the meal when I find that I follow the menu plan loosely, mainly because some mornings I am hungry and want the satisfying addition of eggs. Other mornings an oatmeal offering with fruit is what my body craves and still other mornings I am not hungry so I throw together a breakfast smoothie. I seldom eat what is scheduled for the day. I let my body do the talking.
The crustless quiche that I made last week was not found from the THM resources that I use, but it was delicious. It reheated beautifully and was perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The ‘Ole Buckeye approved as well.
I have come to love the creations of Jenn Segal from Once Upon a Chef. I have been consistently pleased with every recipe I have tried and many have been added to our meal rotation.
It is definitely worth your time to take a look at her blog.
Lunches last week deviated from the plan much like breakfasts. We rotated the meals so that they worked better with our hunger status. I never did have the opportunity to make the broccoli cheese soup from the THM cookbook. I may still attempt to work it in this week. Both soups on the docket last week included okra. My sister is up to her eyeballs with a bumper crop of okra and is asking for recipes. I really must make an effort to give these soups a try.
Once again the plans for dinners took a slight deviation. We were invited to join a group for dinner and a movie on Saturday night. We accepted. The movie was actually one that I have wanted to see ever since I saw the trailer several months ago when I took the grandgirls to see Sing.
Dunkirk. I know that the reviews are good, and I am sure that it will be well attended. I cannot recommend however. It was intense and exhausting as most war movies are and which I expected. Although I was not a fan of the film, I will be interested in learning more about those days in history.
Dinner followed at a Chinese restaurant and I had my first experience of determining what on the menu would be an acceptable meal in the THM plan. Actually it wasn’t as difficult as I thought it might be. I found an entree that fit into my eating plan. I didn’t even miss the rice. (well almost.)
We pushed the mystery meatball dinner to Sunday’s fare. Once I discovered that the frozen container labeled meatballs were our favorite Sriracha meatballs we were delighted.
Monday brought another dinner meeting for the ‘Ole Buckeye and crustless quiche for me. That meant there were 2 meals that were not utilized from the meal plan and have now been moved into week 57.
So here we go once again. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner with attention to what is in stock and on hand. We will be leaving at the end of week 57 for a much anticipated cruise.
There you have it. A plan for eating that doesn’t need a trip to the grocery store! Menu plan 57 will help empty the perishables from the refrigerator while we continue to eat well. Here’s to yet another week of healthy eating and living. Bon Appetit!
