I LOVE Fall
Fall has arrived. We are in a new home and it requires entirely different decor. Actually not really different….just more. I have never decorated much for fall or Halloween for that matter. I used a leaf wreath on the door and added more Halloween decor in October. Easy up and easy down. Fall was historically a busy time of year at the business with homecoming, fall weddings, markets and inventory. I simply didn’t have the time for decorating and I wasn’t home to enjoy it.
My collection of items that made the move included the leaf wreath, some assorted botanicals including stems and leaves, some fall colored, assorted candles, small clay jack-o-lanterns, a son-created scarecrow, a wooden witch and another ceramic pumpkin.
In the past, I started the season in early September with the wreath, adding the pumpkins, witches, and scarecrows in late October. In November the scary stuff was removed and two stuffed turkeys were added. That was the extent of it.
Well, now that I have more time and look at my surroundings much more, I needed to add to the fall repertoire.
The focal point of our living space…the mantle. That was the place to begin.
The fall leaf wreath is now used on the fireplace screen.
I purchased a swag, added some of my leaves and placed some new candles on the antique spools.
I found a metal pumpkin at Tuesday Morning,,,,marked down 50% and there you have it…a fall focal for the whole living space.
Instead of discarding the old leaf wreath I made it a part of the room’s decor. The front door has a new wreath. Well, not actually new because I purchased a more “coastal” wreath for the door for the summer. Since I love it so much, I decided to simply add an autumn touch.
I love the way it looks!
I had some Indian corn husk mini candles but I couldn’t figure out where and how to display them. I found a package of mini-pumpkins and Voila!
The tablescape…easy. I used the candles that I already had and added multi colored gourds.
Add a pillow in the living room (along with a dish filled with candy corn) and leaves around the candle on the coffee table.
Add a few leaf trivets in the kitchen.
Add colorful mums at the entry, and there you have it. Fall fabulous….at least I think so.
Halloween will be added on Friday getting ready for tricks and treats. Next dilemma…how much candy will we need?
