Week 33, 2019 with Trim Healthy Mama

Week 33 you wonder? Shouldn’t it be week 25? The ‘Ole Buckeye is confused and cannot seem to understand the method to my madness of my weekly menu plan numbering. He thinks that the week number should reflect the actual week of the year. That being said the upcoming menu plan should be week 33. I, on the other hand, number the weeks of the menus that I have actually planned over the course of the year. There have been a host of weeks without a menu plan when we are traveling.

I have relented and going forward my menu plans will reflect the week of the year. The ‘Ole Buckeye will find it much easier to find what he will be eating!!!

Breakfast

The breakfast menu for week 33 includes leftovers, and easily prepared favorites. The ‘Ole Buckeye has been preparing his own oatmeal frequently. He is taking a new medication that needs to be eaten with meals. He is finding that the oatmeal works the best with this medication. Many of the meals planned are lasting longer since they occasionally feed only one of us. I am guessing when the French toast and BAM cake reappear, he will forego the oatmeal.

Lunch

The lunches planned during week 33 include only one new recipe…the tomato soup. Even though the Taco Chicken Casserole was on last weeks plan, I made the slow fajitas (a favorite of a fellow blogger) instead. Neither the ‘Ole Buckeye, nor I were fans. I plan to stir them into some rice and beans with some more spices for lunch. It will not be repeated. I will add the Taco Chicken Casserole in the future.

Dinner

The menu plan during week 33 for dinner includes 2 meals prepared by my daughter provided by a new meal delivery service, Plated. It is one of the few services that make meals for 3; most do meals for 2 or 4. She will be making the chicken and the steak. The ‘Ole Buckeye sails on Saturday, so I may or may not make Greek meatloaf. It is a favorite of his, and at this point he is uncertain that he will be here for dinner. I do hope to do some food prep for the beginning of next week over the course of the weekend. I have at least 2 new dessert recipes and a new bread. It is never difficult to plan the entrees…however the sides, salads and desserts require a great deal more creativity.

Recap

Since I did very little cooking last week and the meals that I did cook were repeats, I don’t have recipes to recap.

I will say that we celebrated our anniversary at Becca at the Cavalier Hotel,Virginia Beach.

I love this property and the service and ambiance. The highlight of the evening is sitting out on the terrace and having a drink looking out at the ocean.

From The Terrace at the Cavalier relax and look out at the ocean.

Monday night we were invited to a surprise birthday party at Crystal Palate. It was an Italian wine tasting and a fabulous charcuterie spread by Aged and Cured. Amazing evening with friends.

Aged and Cured

It was a great week and we have yet another great week to look forward to. We continue our journey with the THM guidelines for healthy, sugar free eating. Bon Appetit!
