2021 Week 7 Menu Plan
The 2021 week 7 menu plan features new recipes as well as favorites. Additionally the ‘Ole Buckeye is scheduled for a colonoscopy on Friday so there can be no seeds or nuts, and of course clear liquids all day Thursday and Friday morning. I am planning to skillfully eat away from his presence by creating some quick leftover meals from odds and ends remaining in the refrigerator.
Breakfast
I have relied on cook once/eat again meals for the beginning of the week. One new recipe is planned…sausage rolls and gravy. I discovered two great blogs last week. Peace, Love, and Low Carb provided the highly enjoyed White Cheddar Sausage Breakfast Biscuits. When I find a recipe that good, I plan to use the site as a resource.
Lunch
“Soups on” once again during 2021 week 7 with eat again offerings as well as two new interesting additions. The cold weather is the perfect time for hot soothing soup.
Dinner
Dinners planned for the week are all proven winners. On recommendations of both of my sisters I have purchased turnips. I plan to utilize them in my roasted sausage and pepper recipe. I have adapted that recipe by deleting the potatoes, but this might be a good replacement.
Hits
One of the biggest breakfast hits in a very long time is this new recipe for breakfast biscuits. In fact the ‘Ole Buckeye has put it at the top of the list of favorites for breakfast cookies, muffins and biscuits and I must agree. These were quick and easy to make and one is enough to satisfy, although he enjoys two!

I keep reminding myself that I have enough soup recipes, why bother trying more? This is why! It actually tastes like a creamy potato soup, plus it will provide us with several lunches of warm, comfort food.
This lasagna is a tried and true recipe that is always enjoyable. In fact my 16 year old granddaughter requests it and that says a lot!
Valentine’s Day Dinner
We celebrated Valentine’s Day by eating in and enjoying a restaurant worthy meal. I prepared the spinach salad because the new vinaigrette was easily prepared and quite tasty.
Baby Spinach Salad with Maple Balsamic Vinaigrette
We have done ribeye steaks using this stovetop technique in the past and it is a proven winner. Much better than grilling especially when it is in the 30’s and raining.
The mushroom recipe was new and will be repeated. Great accompaniment for the steaks.
I have made this loaded cauliflower casserole for years and it is consistently a great side for red meat.
By the way…I didn’t make a dessert. We had dark chocolate and sipped wine, perfect.
Misses
I have made lots of successful soup recipes over the past months, but this is not one of them. Unfortunately this is one big batch of soup that had to be eaten over many lunches. Oh well…

Recap
Once again we had a great week of meals. This week the main focus will be to get through the ‘Ole Buckeyes lamentation’s when he can’t eat for a day.
I will admit that I have been lax in my commitment to stay on plan. Sourdough bread has become part of our diet…fine for the ‘Ole Buckeye…me, not so much. The extra pounds have convinced me to exercise…my body and my self control. I am also exploring more information about Keto. My second blog discovery during the week was a new Keto blog…Hip2Keto. It is a source for great recipes as well as having loads of information. This blog has been enlightening and even includes fast food choices and reviews of products. Very informative. There is always more to learn and goals to set. As life continues…Bon Appetit!
