This recipe makes me laugh. It makes me laugh because the grand girls ask for it when I make broccoli. They have named it the Fish Sauce.
Sometime ago I began making Barramundi. This is a delicious fish, first introduced to me by my daughter, and I particularly like the frozen brand available at Whole Foods. I prepared it according to the package directions including the sauce, a lemon and garlic sauce.
On one occasion I prepared the fish with a side of roasted broccoli. The sauce was drizzled over the fish, but also ran across the plate to the broccoli. What a great accompaniment. The sauce on the broccoli…gourmet. In fact the sauce was so good that I saved the wrapper so the recipe would not be lost.
Hence the name. Fish Sauce. The grand girls have named it and they consistently ask for it on roasted broccoli.
So here is the recipe. Fish Sauce.
By the way, Fish Sauce is excellent on fish!
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1 Large Clove garlic Minced
- 3 Tbsp Fresh Lemon Juice
- 5 Leaves fresh basil Chopped
- Gently saute the garlic in the butter for 2 minutes. Stir in the basil and lemon juice. Salt to taste.
This sauce goes a long way. It can be drizzled sparingly on fish. However my grand girls love it drizzled on roasted broccoli. When a 9 and 11 year old eat seconds and thirds on broccoli, you know it must be good. The adults love it too!
The sauce sounds wonderful, and I have never heard of the fish – I guess I’m going to have to break down and face the traffic, and make it to Trader Joe’s. Although I’m still on the lookout for haddock from Jan’s post about mom’s fried fish…
I have tried the baramundi from Trader Joe’s, but I like the baramundi from Whole Foods much better.
